Noble Mind

There are so many differing opinions on what the Bible says, how are we expected to sort through it all? I am always impressed by the Bereans because Paul called them "Noble Minded" for not accepting what he had to say immediately, but searching the scripture to see if what he said was right.
Acts 17:11 Now these people were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
Like many of you, I always feel like I can do more. I need to be active, I need to contribute, but how? I have spent many years as an engineer, but have been finding that somewhat unfulfilling lately. I'm nearing retirement and looking for what's next. My dream would be to sail around the world stopping at smaller islands where the people have real struggles and helping however I can, both with their physical and spiritual needs. I see this page as a good first step in that direction. Hopefully you will learn something useful here or maybe help me in an area I need more study. Ultimately I am hoping this will open a door for me either to some remote island in the middle of the Pacific or whatever better plan that God has for me.
